Winsford residents invited to take part in free & healthy events this half-term!
WINSFORD residents are being urged to get out and about this half term and take part in FREE healthy and fun activities which are taking place across the town thanks to a successful partnership - the Winsford Wellbeing Hub.
The week long initiative known as ‘Wellbeing Winsford Week 2018’ will kick off on 19th February with a launch party at the Dingle Centre followed by an extensive programme of events and health awareness sessions from line dancing, Tai Chi, gardening and swimming to baby first aid, cancer awareness and lung health tests.
The event which is in its third year is led by Winsford Town Councillor and midwife, Ailsa Gaskill-Jones and is the result of effective partnership working between a large number of organisations working in Winsford. It is also supported financially by Winsford Town Council and Cheshire West and Chester Councillors.
Councillor Ailsa Gaskill-Jones, Chair of Wellbeing Winsford Hub said, “Wellbeing Winsford Week is all about providing opportunities for healthy living. It a great opportunity for the Winsford community to take part in new activities, meet different people and find out how to live a healthy lifestyle in the future.
“I would like to thank everyone who has helped to arrange this event and for providing many free sessions which means that lots of activities are accessible to everyone.
“We have worked really hard to publicise the event even more this year and I hope that we will see a good turnout and celebrate the excellent community spirit and partnership working that we have here in Winsford.”
On Friday and Saturday, there will be a Wellbeing Fair set up in Winsford Cross Shopping Centre from 10am to 3pm. Over 25 stalls and stands will be staffed by health and wellbeing experts and even more information and advice will be on hand for people to take away.
Councillor Mike Kennedy, Mayor of Winsford added, “As you can see from the full week’s programme, members of the Wellbeing Winsford Hub have worked extremely hard to arrange, promote and deliver events and initiatives which are not only fun but informative too.
“Therefore, I really hope that the community will get behind us, come along and and speak to our health and wellbeing professionals and try new things to help them lead a healthy and long life.”
The Wellbeing Winsford Hub was set up in 2015 to bring partners together and ensure activities and initiatives were co-ordinated and it has gone from strength to strength with over 25 organisations from the third sector, local authority and health arena now meeting regularly to share information and best practice as well as organising new projects and initiatives.
